Technology blogs and AI meet at an uncomfortable intersection. I use AI in my day job, have experimented with MCP tools with Sonos and Home Assistant, and generally believe in the positive potential for AI to enable individual creators. That said, AI slop and generic or low effort content get worse as creators look to shortcut paths to views and engagement.
Here at All Things Matter, we still believe in handcrafted copy. We won’t use an AI to generate articles in an author’s “voice”, I favor semicolons over em dashes, and there may be an occasional unwieldy run-on sentence. Perhaps even mixed pronouns, with a gauche “I” or a less than royal “We”. However! This site remains a hobbyist approach, and AI agents can help with the aspects that I don’t excel at. Sourcing stock photos or embedding Amazon affiliate links is something that Claude with a WordPress MCP can tackle with aplomb.
The focus of the site will remain smart home devices and platforms, so we’ll strive to keep AI reviews to pertinent applications. That said, this article is being written in Obsidian, a text editor that can link between documents and serve as a knowledge base. It will be reviewed by an OpenClaw agent and ultimately uploaded into WordPress via MCP. It’s a wild new world, but we will strive to use agent harnesses (and other buzzwordy things) to handle the grind and leave room for creative juices to simmer.
