Unofficial plugins have existed and Home Assistant fiends have undoubtedly done unholy things with Sonos automation for some time now, but Sonos launched their official “Sonos27” mcp tool. This isn’t for casual end users; it took a handful of searches to scare up the https://mcp.ws.sonos.com/mcp location, but after that and some of the typical scary auth screens, I had it installed it my local Claude session, playing Wu-Tang’s “Triumph” on my Office speaker. Asking it to turn the volume down brought up a vaguely worded panel that seemed to imply it would turn the volume down everywhere in the house, so for now I’m sticking with naming speakers or rooms to apply commands too. Trying to dynamically add GZA’s Liquid Swords to the playlist only queued up sad trombone noises and an apologetic note, but when I did a typically vague request:

What’s that last album of Aesop Rock, the one that he did with Blockhead? Play that in the Office

Claude dutifully came up with Garbology (2022) and kicked in the tunes.
