The lighting elves at Philips Hue are keeping busy ahead of IFA 2026. Their holiday line of Festavia lights continues to close the gap of categories brought by Govee and eithers – they reportedly have a line of icicle, curtain, and net lights at the ready. They will launch a control interface to frenemy Nanoleaf, so those invested in the gamer vibe of Nanoleaf panels but mostly invested in Hue’s ecosystem will have a more seamless approach to control the atmosphere of your upcoming GTA 6 sessions. Finally, they will will be able to control Sonos music playback with their own hardware buttons. You may recall that Sonos launched voice control for Philips Hue lights back in 2025 (and recently expanded to control Lutron Caseta, the gold standard for smart paddle light controls).
While this poses a risk to muddle the market, overall it seems like an expansion of options. Sonos Voice has less notions to agentify every interaction, and Philips recent embrace of Thread, Matter, and 3rd party systems gives users the opportunity to centralize their lighting controls with an interface that fully embraces the gradients and other complex features of new RGB systems.
